Maelstrom at Norway at Epcot is one of my most very favorite attractions in all of WDW. It's a "must do" for me every time.
First WOW moments:
My favorite surpises the first time I rode Maelstrom was going backwards (very cool anytime, anywhere), and our arrival in the Norwegian village (what a nice way to exit a boat, to the sights and sounds of a fishing village)!
Favorite magical moments:
I LOVE the movie! I like how it pops between the loud history/industrial scenes, and the quiet scenes. I also like the music. I never skip the movie!
It's also fun when I'm there with my teenage nieces and I insist that we stay and watch it, and they roll their eyes, sigh and glare at me. But they have to stay because they love me and I'm paying for the trip.
And my final magical moment is walking into the final shop and smelling the Laila perfume – which is now the only perfume I wear. I love the fresh smell, and wearing it is a little hidden Mickey for me!
Repeatability:
Every trip! Great ride, great movie, great shops and beautiful CMs!
DebWDW rating: 1-30
Do every 1 trip. Willing to wait in queue up to 30 minutes to ride.

I rode this in 91 and thought that it was ok. In 02 it was closed when we visited. So during Mousefest I was looking forward to it. Sorry Deb it just did not live up to the earlier memory for me. To be honest we skipped the movie because so many podcasters have really praised the fact that you can opt out.
Now one attraction that surprised me was Stitches Great Exscape. Podcasters seem to hate this ride. I liked it much better that Alien Encounter however.
Really I never understood why Disney would want to frighten kids with an alien in the first place. Lots of kids cried and screamed during Stitch. I think mostly because of the sudden darkness.
I love this attraction for it's classic ride feel. It's been around since I've been going to the parks and I enjoy it as well. I didn't stay for the film last time we were down, but this time I will have to just for you deb. lol. My favorite attraction in World Showcase would have to be the drummers in Japan. I love music and a different countries take on the music I'm used is very cool to me. That's my can't miss at Epcot.
Taking the time to enjoy the music. And Disney offers so much talent throughout all the parks. Too often guest rush right past to get to the next attraction. Without stopping to experience Disney as a whole. And let's face it music and put a tap in your step that can last the entire day.
My favorite in Epcot is the Mariache Cobre band in Mexico.
Hi Deb! For some reason I forgot that you had a blog!
I love the entire Norway pavillion. It's beautiful, and typically overlooked. Most people go into the ride and move on to the next thing.
I also love the details of the sod roof on top of the dining area over by the viking ship. During the Flower and Garden Festival, there were flowers all in it. Also, I didn't even know that you could go into the Church until a few years ago. I always thought that it was just there.
I like Norway and the movie. Its all disney and I like them all. My mom can't wait to go in May to ride it again.
I am like caballerofan,I like the stitches Great Ecsape.I never rode the Alein thing, but I like the Stitch expereince.

I too loved Norway at Epcot. I wish I'd purchased the perfume before leaving Disney. Is there a way to purchase it online?
