At The Beginning

Today was my first serious week of training for the new year. So later today, I plan to run my second training run for the year -- one half mile!

I know, I know. Why such a wimpy distance? I'm still babying my knee and will build up miles slowly here at the beginning of the year -- then in early summer, I'll ramp it up faster to get back up into the 6-8 mile range.

It's funny how such a small challenge can be invigorating!

Hope all of you have some good workouts in the next week too!

I think you're being very smart starting off slowly...Trust me, I didn't and ended up with a stress fracture that I'm still nursing. Better play it safe than sorry!

Besides, it doesn't matter how far you run as long as you go out and do it!

Glad you are taking it slow, and still getting back out there.

The fact of the matter is that you have a plan. Anyone can just get out there and run a bunch of miles here and there, but with a plan you'll be prepared for whatever races you choose to do. :-)

I'm still struggling with the foot issues, but it doesn't bother me when I run, so I'm just going to tough through it for now. Not sure when the first race of the year is going to be for me. Not going to run the O'Hartford as I did last year.
