Three Miles, Easy Peasy

So I decided to do three miles last night on the treadmill, instead of my usual two. Since I got off to a slow start in February, it was a good opportunity to get in an extra mile.

And it was easy peasy! Getting thru the two miles (5 incline, 3.5 speed) was not bad, then I threw in a half mile run (flat, 4.0 speed) and a fast walk for the last half mile (flat, 3.8 speed).

I had a little struggle in a few spots, but talked my way thru it -- visualized the Half Mara route and the castle and Spaceship Earth and "aimed" for them.

I've come to realize that it's important to learn how to fight thru these walls and tough spots, and I'm getting better at it!!

I put the 5k as part of the challenge for March, I was hinting to it in the Feb. challenge.

I just commented on your blog that maybe you could make it a March/April challenge. Up in Michigan, like the snowy tundra, we probably won't see 5Ks pop up until April, since March is usually still winter for us.

I just want to say two things. One, that's awesome and it's amazing how good you feel after working out for yourself and no other reason. Two, thanks for the advise on Disneyland. I am very excited and am looking forward to it.

Incline of 5, My calfs hurt thinking about it. But hey I read that inclines translate into great speed work later.
Keep that focus up Deb you're doing great.

Yes, since I have bad knees, I cannot put in a ton of miles this year. By doing an incline, I'm building up my calves and cardio, in less miles -- per my trainer. And I think it's working!

I really think you are doing great. Learning to push through those moments is so valuable -- you will really appreciate it when you are doing a race. :-)
